I’ll be here in a month! CAN’T WAIT to explore! #eurotrip
obsessed with scarves && earrings <3
Summers are supposed to be jam packed with fun things to do, not boring summer classes and waitressing. But hard work sure DOES pay off, especially when you manage to take a little break and hop on a plane with your bf and head to Las Vegas. Oh, the freedom of being young and 21! Before your imagination runs wild, did I mention that we met my parents and the rest of the family there? ;)
It was an absolutely AMAZING vacation packed with memories that will linger in my mind forever. Honestly, family vacations are the best. Everyone has a blast, we all pig out, and we visit cool places and do fun things that you usually don’t find yourself doing on a normal weekday lol.
So… this was the view from our suite on the 60th floor of the Cosmopolitan. Lemme just say WOW. Las Vegas definitely got everyone beat.
My little bro Zane agreed with me too (He and my other 2 siblings were still super jet-lagged from being in the Philippines for 6 weeks. These kids were up all night every night, lol).
One of our first adventures was when my step-dad took us all out to Fremont Street. It was practically midnight and the kids were WIDE AWAKE. Parking was a pain in the butt to find, but for sure this place is a must-see when in Vegas. There’s so much action on one street that it’s hard to take everything in! From free concerts, to outside bars, to kiosks with random stuff for sale, and artsy people who are selling their paintings/sculptures. Of course you can’t forget the awesome (FREE) light show on the ceiling and all the photo-ops with the wanna-bees!! :) We got to snap some quick pics with Angry Bird, Rocky, Mr. T, and Snoop Dog that night. They were doing the usual late night shift, working for tips ;)
Every day of the trip had something new. For a late lunch, we got to experience our first In-N-Out burger :) That place was incredibly PACKED at 3 in the afternoon. When I say packed, i mean full of ravenous animals ready to pounce on those darn good cheeseburgers, haha. My boyfriend had his first In-N-Out burger a couple of weeks before in San Diego and all he could do was rave about how good the place was. I told him to bring me back a burger, and all I got was a T-shirt HAHA. Anyways, I must say that I was pretty impressed with the famous burger and their freshly cut fries, Zack thought so too. Nomnomnom.
My little big bro Zack loves the show Pawn Stars. Episode after episode, the kid never gets bored of watching it, lol. After waiting in line in the dry Vegas heat, we were slightly disappointed that we didn’t get to meet Rick or Chumley. These guys practically make up the show! Without them this pawn shop is just another typical pawn shop. Nevertheless, we were still pretty excited to finally check out the place and take pics with the famous cardboard groupie haha. (FYI: oh, and see the open 24 hour sign? DON’T believe it. All lies lol).
As if our day was not jammed packed enough, we decided to make a pit stop at the aquarium at Mandalay Bay before our show that night. So many fish and so many photo-ops! The kids loved the fact that they could touch the stingrays. My favorite were the jellies :) They were so pretty! We found it odd that the Piranha exhibit consisted of an open tank, but I guess they were trying to give that dangerous/but safe effect?! haha, who knows.
So, after a quick dinner we headed to Luxor to see Criss Angel. Uncle Woo was awesome enough to get us seats on the 8th row. The view was PERFECT! Honestly, our seats were way better than the seats up front. I felt like their necks were gonna break or something.. The show was so legit! Zack was even lucky enough to be part of one of the tricks :) Yea, Criss Angel definitely has David Copperfield beat haha (at least the kids and I think so).
After the show, we did a little exploring. Out of all the casinos in Vegas, Luxor definitely has everyone beat architecturally. Wait. Is that even a word?! lol
Luxor is shaped as a pyramid. All the hotel rooms appeared like they were hanging off the ceiling (if that makes any sense) when you looked up. I just wanna know how these people get to their rooms! Maybe an escalator? For sure there’s a hidden elevator that I just didn’t see lol. ANYWAYS, besides the crazy blueprint of the pyramid, this place had some pretty awesome photo-ops. The kids had a blast checking the place out. JVG and I did too:) Cool thing was, that after everyone was worn out, we didn’t have to take a cab or walk back to the Cosmo. We just hopped on the tram that connected the Cosmo, Excalibur, and Luxor together. It was perfect. Another night accomplished.
Dinner was always on the house. Buffets, room service, you name it. Usually casinos have the most amazing buffets, but the Wicked Spoon at the Cosmo was a SUPERbuzzkill haha. I think we spoiled our taste buds that one time at the Imperial Palace (now THAT’s some good food - Jonathan can vouch for that too lol). We had just gotten done swimming and while waiting for my step-dad, i took some awesome shots of the kiddos :) I must say, these kids are quite some characters. Check out the pic on the bottom right. Zack wanted to see what would happen if he just hid in the corner. At first even I didn’t know where he was, but Zane was freaked out. I’ve never seen him so concerned in my life haha. He was running around screaming for a good 5 minutes or so. When Zack popped out, he got a good beating from his little bro :P
One evening, we hit up this place called Pole Position Raceway. My step-dad had been telling us all week about this place and how the go-karts went super super fast. And he wasn’t joking. This place was pretty legit. The go-karts were so fast that i drove like a granny! (everyone else did too but they won’t admit it! lol) >.< Max speed for the kids cars was 25mph, the adults was 40mph. is that legal?! hahaha. My right leg was so sore the next day from pushing on the gas. lol
While we were there, our cousin Raymond got to play in the World Series of Poker. After winning some money that day, he took us all out for dinner :) Since my parents’ fav crawfish restaurant had run out of crawfish, we hit up this other place called the Boiling Crab. First time at the Boiling Crab and I don’t even eat sea food!! hahaha. Well, the wings were good, and it was a pretty cool experience. I must say, I didn’t spill anything on my white-T coz of the bibs they had for us lol. Thanks Raymoundo for dinner!!!! :P
Our very last night was one of the best nights there. While the parents were on a date, Jonathan and I took the kids sightseeing. We walked everywhere! Anyways, everyone was on the lookout for their perfect souvenir. I think i must’ve bought 30 keychains lol. We got to take some pretty cool pictures! The sucky part was when the camera died. (It was my fault coz i didn’t charge the battery, UGH). And this was the best night to take pics, too. Thank goodness for iphones! Nevertheless, we took a whole bunch of paparazzi pics with the random strangers, and we got to hit up some cool places like the M&M store before they closed. We had a blast, and we walked till we couldn’t walk anymore (LITERALLY lol).
Summer Vacation 2012 could’ve never been better. I love my family <3
